Services for Albert "Bud" Jason Sr., 84, of Killeen, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Anderson Chapel AME. Mr. Jason died Oct. 19, 2011, at a Temple hospital. He was born May 3, 1927, to the late Nathan and Addie Jason in Lamourie, La.
He was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. E.C. Curtis. Mr. Jason was united in marriage to the late Mary Banks Jason on Dec. 12, 1957, in Pierce County, Wash. They relocated to Killeen in 1963, where they shared 50 years together. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Army where he served his country for 20 years until he retired in 1973.
Everyone knew whenever you saw Mr. Jason, he always looked like he just stepped out of GQ magazine. He was an active member of VFW Post 9191.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his son, Albert Jason Jr.; daughter, Shelia Tolefree; daughter-in-law, VeEtta Jason; son-in-law, Joseph Tolefree; sister, Eleanor Simmons; brother, James Jason Sr.; grandchildren, Allyson Jason, Craig Jason, Rhavyen Jason, and Tyreque Draine; brothers-in-law, George Banks, Obbie Banks, Raymond Banks, and Ferguson (Maxie) Eli; sisters-in-law, Joann Banks Eli, Doris Jason, Carolyn Banks, Christina Banks and Dot Banks; godchildren, Stephanie Draine, Nicole Draine, and Natasha Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen, which is in charge of arrangements.
