Addie Bell Moss, beloved wife and mother, of Killeen, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Donaghey, Sr. and Maggie Shoemake Donaghey and siblings Lee Lesley, Charles Donaghey, Jr., Lucretia Waltman, Betty Wuthnow and Wanda Bledsoe. She is survived by her husband, Homer R. Moss of Killeen, sons Howard R. Moss and wife Christine of Georgetown, TX, Greg E. Moss of Austin, TX, and grandsons Eric R. Moss and David W. Moss of Georgetown, TX.
Addie was born September 12, 1926, in Burdette, Arkansas and moved to Allen, Oklahoma when she was 2 years old. At the age of 9, Addie and her siblings were placed in the Whitaker Orphanage in Pryor, Oklahoma. She graduated with honors from Whitaker Orphanage High School. In 1945, Addie moved to Washington, D.C. and began work for the U.S. Navy. She married Homer Moss on September 2, 1950, in Ft. Myer, Virginia.
Addie had many hobbies including ceramics, needlework, traveling and puzzles. She was active in the Boy Scouts of America, American Red Cross, and the Killeen Citizens Police Academy. She was an avid reader and loved keeping a family history through photography.
Anyone that knew Addie knew that she was a very warm, loving, and caring person. She loved children, people, and animals. Her favorites …the cardinal, hummingbird and cats.
Services for Mrs. Moss will be held at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm on Monday, July 26, 2010, with services to follow at 1:00pm. Burial will take place at the IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown, TX immediately following the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Vista Care Hospice 2626B South 37th St., Temple, TX 76504 or Second Chance Animal Shelter 5501 Clear Creek Rd., Killeen, TX 76549.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
