Loretta was born as Eiline Euzella Pettitt on December 16, 1921 near Elkland, Missouri to Ona Marie Young and George Thomas Pettitt. In 1937, the depression compelled Loretta and her family to move to California’s Central Valley where they settled in Lindsey, California. In 1939, Loretta married Paul Barker and together had two children, Doris and Leroy. She and Paul divorced and in 1950 she married John Laird. They were later divorced. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Joe Snow. Loretta and Joe moved around northern California and eventually settled in Joe’s hometown of Kerman, California. Together they worked tirelessly for many years building their farming business and “Snow Manufacturing Co.” They cherished their community and lead a very devoted and spiritual life together. They hosted many bible study groups in their home and volunteered often in Roeding Park by serving food to the homeless. They were strong in their convictions and remained at each other’s side until Joe’s passing on April 8, 2008. Loretta was devoted to helping those in need and was deeply loved by her church, family, and friends. Loretta also loved music and would have gatherings at her home where all instruments and neighbors were welcome. Loretta will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Snow, son Leroy Barker, her siblings, Earline Carpenter, Earlin “Bud” Pettitt, Anna “Verline” Milhous, Georgia Pettitt, Wilma Kennedy, Pansy Hawley and grandson, William Ogg.
