A Celebration of Life will be held at
1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010
at Knox United Church.
Bill passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in his 93rd year.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and May Brown, special Aunt Mina Sherriff and brothers Alex and James.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Nancy, his devoted children, Don (Kathy), Maureen and Stuart, cherished grandchildren Neil (Jen), Glen (Rachael), Heather (Kurt), Sean (Shawna), Tim, and great grandchildren Jayden, Callum, and Eva. He is also survived by sister-in-law Fran and children.
Bill was born in Saltcoats, Scotland on July 27, 1916 and was 5 1/2 years old when his father moved the family to Kenora. Bill grew up in Kenora and was an avid fisherman and curler.
He joined the Canadian Expedentionary Force in 1941 and served overseas with the Canadian Forestry Corps and met his wife Nancy. They returned to Canada in 1946 where he joined his father in the plumbing and heating business, where he worked until retiring in 1975. Bill was a member of the Kenora Rowing Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Pequonga
Masonic Lodge #414, and the Knox United Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Knox United Church. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Knox United Church, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
