Pakon, Helen Shirley (Hensrud) - Peacefully, Shirley Pakon passed away at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, January 1st, 2014.
Born in Mazenod, Saskatchewan on May 21,1933.
Shirley was raised in Moose Jaw, SK, where she finished her education and worked at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina. Shirley moved to Kenora where she met her husband Raymond (Stubby) Pakon whom she married on November 18th,1961.
Predeceased by her parents Stella and Arthur, brothers Carl Hensrud, Melvin Hensrud and Darrell Hensrud and sister Beulah Kinsley. Left to mourn are her sisters Irene White (Ed), Marlene Hensrud and brother George Hensrud. Shirley has many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly and most of all little Kane who she loved to have visits from.
Shirley was employed by the Bank of Commerce and the Bank of Montreal and then retired in 1973.
Shirley was an auxiliary member at Pinecrest Home for the Aged where she worked in the Tuck Shop. She was a very active volunteer at the Ukrainian Hall as secretary and helped with events taking place at the hall.
The family would like to thank Dr. Retson, Dr. Kyle, Dr. Scaife and all the caregivers at the hospital for their kindness, professional care and attention. Their dedication and commitment is greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on January 7th ,2014 at 11:00am. An internment service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society and Pinecrest Home for the Aged Ladies Auxiliary.
