March 9, 1976 – October 4, 2015
It is with a heart shattered in a million pieces that I share the news of Sean Reimer's (Kooch) death. In his last few days with us, Sean did what he loved most, spending time with his beloved wife and son, going to a Blue Jays game, planning a card game, and visiting with "his boys."
Those who knew Sean before MS would have known a strong, kind, and giving man. One might think that Sean's battle would have weakened him but those who knew him closely, knew a man even stronger in spirit, heart, and mind. Friends sought solace in his company, he was a rock for his wife, and an inspiration to his son. His greatest moments were spent surrounding himself in positivity and bringing goodness to the world. Sean was the type of man who made others feel welcome and we felt so blessed to have friends surrounding us like family. He was a moral compass with insight beyond his years. He refused to let life get him down and no matter what would “Git er done.” Sean reminded us each and every day to be grateful for all that we had. We can all learn from his mantra to Slow down, relax, and take it easy - to realize what's really important and surround yourself with those you love.
During his childhood Sean loved spending time on the farm and with his grandparents and cousins in Steinbach and to this day welcomes a tight hug from his Oma. Athlete of the Year for Beaver Brae Secondary School, KIT MVP, top Beer drinker and firewood getter at Hillock, and brother to most who knew him well, Sean's spirit will live strong in us all. Sean still holds the Hillock record and challenges his boys to try to top it. He will be especially missed by his true best man Scott Parkes who he loved like a brother.
Sean spent 10 years as a Correctional Officer at the Kenora Jail with amazing friends and colleagues. When he retired he became the proudest 'house husband' taking such good care of his family. Days were spent ice fishing with his best buddy Ken and many evenings were laughed away chatting in the garage. Sean was the most solid guy - a true inspiration of what it means to be a "real man." He is survived by his beloved wife Jennifer Reimer and his dear son Lucas Nystrom, both who will never be the same in his absence. "The Boys" will forever hold his spirit and will carry on his legacy in the lives they lead with their families. His parents Klaus and Connie Reimer, and Donna Dokuchie, as well as his siblings Marshall, Tory, Zoe, and Kayla, and many other extended family members will miss him greatly. Joining his Grandparents Art and Mary, his Opa, and his brother Nicholas, Sean will be watching over us all each and every day.
Sean asked that during this challenging time everyone take their time to tell stories about him to keep his spirit alive among us and to celebrate the man who we love so dearly. AWOL Sean – while the memories are infinite, we should have grown old together.
In lieu of flowers Sean has asked that those who would like can contribute to help fulfill one of his greatest dreams - to support his son's education fund - Sean's pride in Lucas and dedication in supporting him in all of his endeavors remained unwavering. Donations can be given to the family or e-transferred to [email protected] at Copperfin Credit Union to be contributed to Lucas' RESP.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating.
Perhaps they are not stars,
but rather openings in heaven
where the love of our lost ones pours through
and shines down upon us
to let us know they are happy.
