With immense sadness we are left to miss our husband, father, Papa and friend, Ricky A Beckworth. Rick was born in Manitoba to Joyce Yaremko on June 5 1952 and came home to Ontario as just an infant, this is where his roots were planted. No surprise, as just a young boy Dad started working right away and never stopped!
Fast forward to Oct 1977 when he met and married the love of his life and best friend Theresa (nee Kruk). Rick and Theresa had two children Brendan (Laurie) Beckworth and Ashley Beckworth. In 1999 they welcomed their first grandson Brayden (Sam) Beckworth into their lives and their family was completed in 2008 when Kreston Ricky Jones was born.
Ricks sisters Shelley (Eddie) Ippolito and Paula (Bryan) Yaremko are heartbroken and will miss Rick along with their other brother Micheal who passed away a few years before. Dad had a special place in his heart for his only surviving aunty Dot Beckworth who will be celebrating 100 years young this January.
Dad will be sorely missed by his special friend and “number 2” Georgina Willis and has many family members with countless stories who will also miss him dearly.
Ash will forever cherish her daily 5am "Morning Sweetie" messages and Kreston will even miss his “are you up yet?” Texts. Laurie will miss her swim partner at camp. Dad was always there when any of us needed advice or life lessons! We will miss his random joke texts and we will never forget his contagious laugh.
Dad was a dedicated member of international union of operating engineers local 793. He just received his 50-year ring. After many years of working pipeline out of town solo, he was so happy when mom decided to retire and travel along with him. They were travel partners from 2009 until dad finally officially retired in 2019.
Dad spent most of his time on Hare Island where him and mom built their dream home, with their own two hands. Many family members would enjoy countless hours on the dock, you could hear the laughter for miles. He was very proud of what they built and always enjoyed sharing it with loved ones. Mom would like to thank her brother, our Uncle Randy Kruk who was a huge help making multiple trips back and forth, always there to lend a hand when hard work was needed! Thanks Uncle Randy!
If Dad wasn’t on the Island you’d find him at his hot spots fishing, or on a hunting trip with his son Brendan and grandson Brayden, three generations enjoying the outdoors with their good friends Mark and Randy. Papa was there when Brayden got his first deer! Brendan and Brayden will cherish all they have learned from this amazing man.
Mom would like to thank all those who were by her side, during those difficult hours on the island, Wayne Warkentin, Jim Wong and Jackie Rusak, followed by the emergency crews. A very special thank you to our dear friend Brad Boucha, who not only got emergency crews out, but stayed by their side the entire time and got mom and dad home on main land safely.
Remember as dad would always say ….. “there’s no use in getting older if you don’t get smarter!”
As per dad’s wishes there will be no service and creation has taken place in the compassionate hands of Brown’s Funeral Home.
