1945 - 2018
Our dear Patricia left us after a sudden and aggressive illness through which she supported all of her family, helping them with their grief while quietly coping with her own losses.
Pat was born in Mattawa, Ontario and grew up at 456 Algonquin Ave. in North Bay. She trained as a nurse with the Sisters of St. Joseph in London and moved to Kenora in the early 70's. Her first memory of Kenora was the charming Christmas tree in the middle of the street. Her nursing career started at St. Joseph's Hospital and then moved to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and finally joining the Mental Health Counselling Program. For much of her nursing career she was a dedicated and caring mental health therapist who touched and helped an untold number of clients.
Pat's true calling was as a grandmother and she enjoyed especially close relationships with her three grand-children Kayla, Brayden and her little Kayleigh. She would take on anyone or anything to protect her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her two sons Jay (Angela) and Scott (Leigh-Ann).
In retirement Pat took up meditation studying with the Venerable Losang Samten along with her `Buddah Buddies' and traveled with them seeing Barcelona, Greece and an amazing tour of China. She dearly loved her second family. Eleanor & Duncan MacDonell also were a second family to Pat giving her much love and support throughout her life.
She will be desperatly missed by her loving husband Bill with whom she loved to travel seeing Paris. Vienna, London, Dublin and many other destinations. He loved to cook for her and they always had a nightly Scrabble game. She supported him right to the end.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tim Wehner and his colleague Dr. Shannon Weibe for their untiring support in keeping Pat home, where she wanted to be, with her William.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date in late April.
