Owen was born in Kenora, Ontario on September 3, 1949 and grew up in the Lakeside neighborhood. Following his carpenter training at Red River College, Owen set out on a successful career as a skilled carpenter and contractor in and around the Kenora area. Known for his exceptional quality and attention to detail, Owen’s craftsmanship was in high demand. His work included the construction of many homes and cottages over the years, including his beautiful home on Golf Course Bay.
Owen’s favorite pastime was heading to the Kenora Golf & Country Club for a round of golf with friends. He was an excellent golfer, winning multiple junior, men’s and senior club championships over the years.
Never one to be caught sitting still, Owen would always have a job on the go, be it simply mowing the lawn or grading the driveway, to fixing something in his shop. Owen was always willing to help friends, be it lending a hand or a tool.
In recent years, Owen had turned much of his focus during the winter months to following the Winnipeg Jets. Never shy on sharing his opinion, if you had the pleasure of participating in one of his daily discussions related to the Jets, you would inevitably know which player was his least favorite!
Owen was a big personality and always was willing to have a conversation. Whether the topic resulted in agreements or disagreements among the participants, it was always fun to banter back and forth with him. Those who knew Owen, knew him as a kind, compassionate, supportive, and extremely generous person.
Owen was predeceased by his son Owen Bradley Green, father, Verner Green, mother, June Green, brother-in-law, Warren Hanstead, and sister-in-law Lisa Green.
