September 25, 1946 - August 17, 2022
With heavy hearts the family of Norman Norris is announcing his passing on August 17, 2022 at the age of 75. The journey before and after his double lung transplant in January 2022 was filled with both joys and setbacks that showed his courage in facing those challenges with a smile. Norm is survived by his loving wife Linda Foote, his children Tracy (Mike), Darren (Natalie), Ryan and Rebecca (James), and his grandchildren Mick, Aminah, and Maverick. He is also survived by siblings Keith, Dennis, and Nancy, brothers in-law and sister in-law. He is also survived by the mother of his children. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Leah.
In 1982 Norm settled in Kenora with his family. His long career in municipal recreation brought him into the role of Manager at the Kenora Recreation Centre. He spent his years there until his retirement at the young age of 54. He then lived the camp lifestyle with Linda where all friends were always welcome. Many memories were made, many laughs were had, and they will always be cherished.
Norm was well known for his humour and could always have a good laugh with family and friends. He was especially all smiles when it came to his grandchildren. When not laughing and being a character, he loved his quiet time doing crosswords or reading books. As well, he liked to travel. On one particular trip with Linda to her home in Newfoundland, he discovered an appreciation for cod fishing on the ocean. He was proud to say he never got sea sick!
He will be remembered by his children as a supportive, loving and helpful father. His teachings will be carried on. His wife will remember their full life together and being his love.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held with family and close friends. In memory of Norm, please consider being an organ donor.
