Mom was born in Emo, ON on June 4th, 1926. She grew up on a farm north of Emo. Mom stayed on the farm working and caring for her sister Della until her passing. She started venturing out to local dances where she met Dad. They courted for 2 years until they were married on December 27th, 1955.
They started their married life at Jones ON, which was only accessible by rail at the time. As the road was built they eventually settled at Colona Lake camp. It was here they started their family having Brian, Ray and Todd. In 1966 they bought their first home in Kenora and Vickie arrived in 1967.
After raising her family Mom joined the work force and retired from Kenora District School Board in 1990. Mom was known for her crochet work and baking skills, especially her butter tarts and pies. Mom and Dad enjoyed 27 years at their summer home in Sioux Narrows and numerous vacations around the globe.
Our family would like to thank Brian Campbell, Susan LaCroix, Dr. Thomas, Kris Soderman and staff at Keewatin Pharmacy, Paramedics Darren, Nicole and Jeff.
Special thanks to “Her Girls” and staff at Benedickson Court for their humor, care, compassion and for making it possible for us to fulfill Mom’s wish to remain at home.
Funeral service will be held at St. Alban’s Cathedral on Friday January 26th, 2024 at 11:00am with Rev. Marion Jackson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Mom’s name to St. Alban’s Cathedral.
