The family of Lloyd Albert Lajeunesse is deeply saddened to announce his passing on April 1, 2025, at the age of 62. Lloyd was born in Kenora, Ontario, and grew up on Essex Road, where he attended local schools and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. His adventures in the countryside, boating on Black Sturgeon Lake, and his remarkable cliff diving skills are fondly remembered by those who knew him. Lloyd's ability to perform a perfect swan dive with minimal splash was truly impressive.
Lloyd spent endless summer days swimming at the Lajeunesse bridge with his brother Joe, sisters, and many friends. In his younger years, he cherished evenings spent in the back forty with his dad, "Grizzly," waiting for that perfect deer to cross their paths. These moments were a significant part of his life.
Lloyd loved spending time on his quad. When he wasn't working during the summer months, he was often driving around on his quad, visiting friends and family. If you ever needed to know the best blueberry picking spot, Lloyd was always scouting out the perfect location and would share it with his family. However, he did expect some blueberries in return, and you were sworn to secrecy if he spilled the beans.
Christmas gatherings with the whole family were particularly special to Lloyd. Though he would grumble at the preparations, once everyone was there, he was the last person awake at the end of the night, having talked to everyone who came into the home. Despite his tough exterior, Lloyd had a soft spot that only a few got to see.
Lloyd took great pride in his long career at the Ministry of Transportation and was set to retire on April 30, 2025. Known for his gruff, tough attitude, Lloyd was affectionately managed by his colleagues, who referred to him as "the big bear." His favorite early morning spot, "Lloyd's Lookout," was where he found solace and reflected on life's beauty.
Above all, Lloyd was immensely proud of his son, Ryan. This was his most important accomplishment in life, and he spoke fondly of Ryan to all those who would listen.
Lloyd is now reunited with his beloved parents, Maggie and Joseph Lajeunesse, his sisters, Marion Lajeunesse and Sharon Lajeunesse-Sutcliffe.
Lloyd leaves behind his son, Ryan Lajeunesse; his best friends and brothers Joseph and Richard Lajeunesse; sisters Agnes Kolisnik (Randy) and Carol Favreau (Jim); and brother-in-law Bruce Sutcliffe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Lisa Derouard (Mike), Michael Kolisnik, Renae Coones (Adam), Richard Favreau, Danielle Mineault (Brodie), David Thorgrimson (Tabitha), Kylie Rosales-Janik (David), Theresa Thomson (Kevin), and his close friends Norman Mineault, Charity Meeks and his true lifelong buddy Melody Doucette.
There will not be a funeral service for Lloyd, but a gathering will be held on May 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the home of Richard Lajeunesse, North Cherry Road, Clearwater Bay. The family plans to host a late luncheon, where all of Lloyd's friends and family are welcome to come and share stories and memories. Please do not send flowers. If you would like to contribute, please consider making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Lloyd.
