It is with great sadness our family announces the sudden passing of Joseph Harold Fontaine Sr. who died in his own home on October 21, 2020.
Joseph leaves to mourn his wife, Veronica McKay and his children Joe Fontaine Jr., and Sydney Fontaine; nieces and nephews, Annette, Blaine, Rhonda, and Priscilla; his grandchildren, Leaha, Julie, Glenn Jr, Mitchell, Tara, Josh, Louis, Thunder, Sage and Vivian; his great great grandchildren that he loved dearly, there are too many to mention.
He is predeceased by his parents, Theresa Cabaskunk and Leonard Fontaine. The mother of his children, Annie Assin, his brothers, Emile and Ronnie Fontaine; his sister, Mary Fontaine; his son, Glenn Assin; his nieces and nephews, Sandra K., Teresa L., and Tony L., his grandchildren, Sophia F and Rebecca K; his great grandchild Hanna Land and baby girl Fontaine.
He enjoyed building houses, being out on the lake and guiding, he loved being outdoors, playing hockey and he also worked on the railroad. He had a great sense of humor, loved to talk and be with family through good times and bad times. He was a very caring and loved his family dearly.
A wake service will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 4p.m. at the Minnowsaywin Building in Grassy Narrows First Nation. A Traditional Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. followed by a burial. Bill Fobister Snr. to officiate service.
