The family of James Arthur Robinson regrets to announce his peaceful passing at the age of 99 at Birchwood Terrace on April 4th.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Jane and Arthur Robinson, wife Doris Robinson, brother George (Jean) Robinson, sisters Dolly Robinson, Amy (Bud) Parsons, son in-law Doug Pringle, and grandson Steven Pringle.
He leaves to mourn his son Jim (Sheryl) Robinson of Kenora, his daughter Jo-Ann Pringle of Thunder Bay, grandchildren Kevin (Tammy), Crystal (Gord), Amber, Michelle, Ashley, Alex, Raymond, and Charlie of Kenora, Kim (Dale), Doug (Audrey), Doreen, Angie of Thunder Bay, great grandchildren Amy (Anita), Amanda (Ian), Dustin, Chris, Rob, Doug, Victoria, Joseph, Caiden and Alexis, as well as three great-great grandchildren: Gaius, Apollo and Wynter, and several nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Kenora, Jim started working at the Kenora paper mill at a very early age. Jim was a simple, honest man who took pride in his work and received great satisfaction from a job well done. At 65, Jim was able to retire from the mill and spent his time crafting projects at home in his workshop and enjoying each day, living peacefully in his home or at his camp on Longbow Lake. As caring and considerate as Jim was he never took any mercy in beating his grandchildren at a game of checkers or cribbage at any family get together.
Dad was an active member in the Knox United Church family. He served on several committees and was a member of the A.O.T.S. (As One That Serves). He felt honored to be recognized as an Elder.
The family would like to thank the staff of Birchwood Terrace for their devoted care of our dad, uncle and Grandpa James Robinson known to the staff there as Jimmy. We know he enjoyed having his grand-daughter, Michelle, close by as she worked at Birchwood for the past few years.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Robinson, Ken Parsons, Ray Cameron, Alex Muckle, Dale Woodbeck and Doreen Dunbar.
Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Thursday April 8th, from 7-9 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Knox United Church on Friday, April 9th, at 2 p.m. with Cheryl Kinney Matheson officiating.
