Mr. James Harder

August 14, 1931 - November 3, 2014

Jim passed away peacefully on November 3, 2014 with his family by his side at Pinecrest Home.

He is predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Doris Harder and sister Joan (Harder) McDonald.

Survived by his loving wife Alice (Christianson), daughter Linda (Lance) McCutchon, granddaughter Jaime Nachuk and special nieces Barb Hubble, husband Tim (Sean and Ashley) and Cheryl Donnelly (Jeness, Jenell and Robbie).

Jim met and married Alice in 1951 and together they started to build a new home. But first, they went into the forest and cut their own logs for the sawmill. This was the start of their many years working together on different projects.

He was self-employed operating Harder's Plumbing and Heating for many years, which he had taken over from his father. Even after Jim retired from the business he was always available to his friends and neighbours helping with their heating and plumbing problems.

Jim was quite active in the Salvation Army in his younger years, as a member of the Salvation Army Band, youth leader roles, and Sunday school teacher. Jim loved taking children out to experience the outdoors.

Jim loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or snowmobiling, he gathered great enjoyment while doing these things. He always had an amusing story to be told at the many fish fries with family and friends. Jim enjoyed family gatherings, the more the merrier (as long as he didn't have to do the clean-up). After a meal it was always sauna time, summer or winter. Hauling water in 3 ft of snow was not always an easy task.

Jim loved to fly. He was always taking his friends and family up for a ride in his floatplane or going to his favorite fishing spots.

He will be missed.

Memorial Service will be held at Pinecrest Home on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 1:30pm.
