So sorry for your,loss, Helen was a great lady, when I would bring her fresh vegetables from our garden, she would tell me stories of when she was a young girl and how she loved my grandmother Alice Carlson, she gave me photos of my grandparents and my father, Uncle Doug when we used to go out to my grandparents camp on black sturgeon lake.We had some very nice talks. Helen was an amazing woman and a great friend. I met her years ago when I was her home care worker. She always made you feel welcome and at home. Although I have been retired for over six years, I kept in touch through phone calls and cards. She was a remarkable woman and made an impression on all she met. We will miss her.

Helen was an amazing woman and was a great friend.  I met her years ago when I became her home care worker. She was such a pleasure to talk to and always made you at home. Although I've  been retired for over six years, I still kept in touch through phone calls and cards. She was a remarkable woman and touched the lives of many people. We will miss her.

“Never stop moving.” Those words are the gift that Helen gave me when I asked her “What’s your secret to living a long life.”  She could have added “Never stop giving of yourself.” This was a creed this beautiful, humble woman lived by. Helen gave in so many ways such handwriting and personally delivering 72 Christmas Cards to the residents at the Park Street seniors apartment block and sharing her delicious recipes with family, friends and strangers. A very talented lady indeed, Helen’s writing, painting and cooking displayed her joy for life. She respected the young and old alike and as teenagers she always treated us with kindness and  understood our growing pains. When asked what birthday photo was displayed on her shelf she replied, “Maybe my 91st or 95th.” That’s what you call living a full life. Helen thank you for your wisdom, time and love of life. Thank you for your children who are dear friends of mine. Your kindness and generosity live on through them. 

Helen was such an amazing, loving and kind mother, grandmother, and servant of the Lord. My family and I lived in Kenora for 5 years as I was Helen's Pastor at First Presbyterian Church. She immediately adopted us and would always invite us to her apartment for sweet treats and some amazing Kenora stories. We would never go to visit and not leave with a deep sense of love from Helen. I loved visiting Helen as her Pastor. We would have such amazing moments just talking about the church, singing her favorite hymns and reading from her Bible on her side table. Helen had an attitude of determination that many would be blessed to have today, as even in her late 90s, you would see her coming up Park Street on her walker, walking to church and to the Ladies Guild during the summer. Helen loved her family, her church and her God very much and would go the extra mile to ensure that everyone was ok. Her kindness, dedication, and great human spirit will be missed. She has fought the good fight and finished her course and so someday we will see her in glory. My prayers for her family and may her soul rest in peace.



I was Helen's homemade worker for years. Although I retired over six years ago, I still kept in tough rhrough phone calls and cards. She was a remarkable woman and will be missed by all who knew her. It was a pleasure to be her friend.

Gonna miss you mom. You were always there for us and others - just a phone call away - always!  99.5 years , quite a feat!  I see your good friend Mary Strawa just passed - I'm sure you'll be having tea and cake. Love. Michael

Florence, Michael, George & families:  We are extending our most heartfelt condolences to all of you as well as extended family and friends.  Helen was our neighbour on Heenan Place for many years.  She made the best apple pies!  She was a good listener, friendly, and always helpful.  She was an amazing woman, no matter her ailments, she just kept on going.  Sorry for your loss. I remember Helen, Mrs. Krisko, as a child growing up in Norman. I had the pleasure of visiting with her recently. A lovely lady. 

Sorry to hear of the passing of our favourite auntie . We were fortunate to have her with us for many special suppers over the years . I often enjoyed bringing her an A&W hamburger and root beer for lunch when she shared many stories about the the brothers she loved so much .  She was a special lady . We loved her so much ! Her faith in God was strong and was ready to move on as soon as Christmas was done .

Dear Florence, George and Mike; What a remarkable woman your mom was. When I was little, to me she was just your mom, and one of the "ladies in the kitchen" at church. But as an adult, I was able to appreciate her loving and caring nature, and really enjoyed how she would say whatever was on her mind, even when others were maybe tiptoing around the subject! What a sweet, sweet lady.  I was so fortunate to be able to sing with for her on many occasions, the last I still have on video; it is something I treasure. My sympathies to you all on her passing.
