Edwin Walter ‘Toad’ Carlson

November 30, 1922 – November 5, 2017

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Edwin Walter ‘Toad’ Carlson.

He was born November 30, 1922 and he was one of nine children.

Edwin Walter Carlson went on to marry Doris Sundmark in 1948. He spent his life with those he loved and lived life to the fullest. Toad enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and camping.

Toad enjoyed playing the accordion accompanied by Doris on the guitar. He also enjoyed breaking out the accordion following family meals and watching the grandchildren march in a circle to the beat of the music. Toad was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He will be missed by many. Toad also used masking tape, duct tape and twist ties to the extreme as labels on any surface that it would stick too, including the dashboard of his car, he even kept the tape in a sealed plastic bag so the adhesive would not dry out.

Toad was predeceased by his wife Doris, his parents Angus and Wanda, as well as siblings Alfred, Angus Clarence, Betty and Joyce.

Edwin (Toad) will be lovingly remembered by his children, son Wayne (Gwen), daughter Starla (George), sisters Margaret-Rose (Lorne) and Mary-Lou (Chuck Kelly), brother Charlie (Joan), grandkids Kimberly (Darren), Jennifer (Marty), Behn (Angela), Chris (Laura), Ashley, Andrew (Christina), great grandchildren Nate, Brayden, Ethan, Jaxon, Knox, Wahly, Philomena, Saylor, Ava, Evangeline, James, Madeline, Jack and Luciana.

Toad was a veteran of WWII and served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons serving from 1943-1946 mostly in Italy.

The family would like to thank Pinecrest Nursing Home, the nurses and staff of Unit 4, and Dr. Thomas for all the care and compassion shown to Edwin.

A private family service to be held on Friday, November 10, 2017.
