Edward Everson
March 13, 1959 - March 22, 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Everson, March 13, 1959 – March 22, 2012. Our beloved son, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, brother and friend.
Ed leaves to mourn, mother Catherine Young, his children Christina, Kyle, Kaleb (Dee), Kraig and Kathleen. Beloved grandchildren, Dylon, Leathe, Brooke, Carmen and Shane. Survived by his uncles, Vic and El Longe, Sonny (Bev) Iverson, aunts Kitty, Gina, Ruth and Emilia. Siblings Nancy, Debbie, Bob, Pat, Terry (Judy). Nieces and nephews Julie, Richelle, Brittany, Lisa, Michael, Tara, Danielle, Nicholas, Elleanor, and MacKenzie. Great nieces and nephews, cousins, numerous friends and good friend Leslie Stone.
Predeceased by his father Arthur Everson ugust 1, 1990. Niece Nicole, nephew Chancellor, uncles Garry, Tom, Ron, and cousin Charlie.
Ed was born and raised in Kenora. He was a great outdoorsman working and playing. He was a commercial fisherman, trapper, small motor mechanic, construction worker on the lake as well as building houses.
He travelled the northern remote communities extensively building fish houses and boats for Indian Affairs. Pat’s Outboard getting boats ready for camps and customers. He was a house parent at a group home.
He played hockey, broom ball, and baseball for many years. He was an avid sportsman. He collected countless friends along the way.
He passed away honourably trying to rescue his friends. (He had a belt strapped to his wrist, as reported by police.)
The pallbearers will be Ron, Eric, and Randy Everson, Gus Iverson, Michael and Andrian Everson, Glen and Greg Mainville.
The Honorary Pallbearers will be Sonny Iverson, El and Vic Longe, Larry Keewatin Sonny Gibbons, Ross Langlois, Michael MacNeil, and Larry Kinley.
There will be a wake at the Rat Portage Community Centre starting noon Thursday and Friday March 29, & 30. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the First Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Internment at Lake of the Woods Cemetery to follow. A luncheon to be held at the Knox United Church. Everyone is welcome.
