I never got to know grandma as much as I would have liked. She lived in Kenora while I live in Vancouver, meaning that the times I got to see her were few and far between. However, I remember the times that we did have together very fondly. Grandma was funny; she would always have something witty to say about any situation, meaning that with her, there was never a dull moment. She was a talented artist, and I remember talking with her and realizing she saw much of the world with an artistic eye. This is something I always envied about her. She was an animal lover, and made it obvious in the soft and gentle ways she interacted with our kitties, but especially so with any dogs she came across. She loved playing cards; something she passed down to my mother, who passed it down to me. 

Even though I did not get to see grandma often, we spoke on the phone much more frequently. She always had something to say, whether it be about goings-on in Kenora, or what she had been up to. She was endlessly interested in my life and made it known. Grandma was a remarkably generous person, and whenever she had something to give, she would share it with the people she loved. This is what I will remember most about my grandma. 

Grandma, you will be deeply missed, and though the times we had together were short and few, I will cherish them always. I love you, and I hope you’re playing cards at this very moment.

It was so nice to get to know her more the last few years. Just like Grandpa her brother, she had such a strong yet sweet personality! Always so close with my Mom Katherine Quinton a wonderful Aunt to her, we will miss you dearly at our Quinton family gatherings!

For Leanne & Necole and All of Diane's family,
Both Doug and I were able to get to know more of Diane's Family through meeting some of them or stories of so many fun times we were able to share together.  Many more 'girl' times were shared over the years with more laughter. I was able to get to know her more each time and her to know me.  We would disagree at times and both speak our mind but Both of us agreed we would always be friends!  Your Mom will stay in my heart forever.

I have many great memories of Diane  it always felt like home traveling to Kenora   Diane was a great cook and always stuffed me including my introduction to Lake of the Woods pickerel  my favorite   
What I remember most is the laughter between Leanne and Diane. At least twice a week that phone would ring in the evening and it would start  and sometimes last for hours  Leanne with the phone in one hand and a glass of wine in the other  just laughing   No matter what the day was it ended on a high note    Diane will be missed. My dear Auntie Diane, may she rest in peace free of all the pain she had endured this past couple of months. My heart aches for you, her dear daughters and families. I am so sorry for your loss.

We were more than auntie and niece. We were friends sharing our life's experiences and supporting each other along the way.

Diane was always candid in her comments, positive or negative. You always knew where you stood. That is one of the many reasons I loved her so much. 

I will miss our visits in person, all our funny lunches, tea and cookies on her terrace and our hour-long phone calls from my home in Minnesota.

Diane was kind, considerate and giving. One of my sweet memories was when I was in high school. I had made an appointment (for the first time) to get my long hair done for prom. I told the scheduler what I needed and no problem. Well, the hairdresser had never worked with long hair before, and it turned out to be a 1930's rat's nest. I was so upset. Well, Diane to the rescue. She redid my hair, and it turned out great. I was so grateful!

Diane was so good at many things. Cooking was only one thing. Her butter cookies, soups, pierogis, and cabbage rolls were just a few to mention. Since she was such a good cook, Diane had her preferences or inclinations. We had many a conversation about food items in Kenora at various restaurants that did not meet her expectations. Diane would never mince words.

My Mom and Diane talked almost every day for years until she became too ill. They supported each other as much as they could.
Many times, Diane visited the farm with Sonny for tea with my parents. A few of those visits, the four of us would get out of hand. We would be all talking at the same time not hearing what each other was saying. Mom got a kitchen timer out and set it for so many minutes for each of us to talk. When the buzzer went off, we would all laugh and laugh until we had tears rolling down our cheeks.

I will miss her swinging hugs. They were the best!

So sorry to hear about the loss of such a vibrant woman.  May the many memories she created with you bring you comfort in the days, weeks, and years to come.  I know she has left me with many fond memories just from the short space of time I was fortunate to have known her.

Diane was a special person.  She was feisty, funny and had a way of lifting you up when you were down. One of the last times I saw her,  she took the St. Paddy’s Day table decoration and put it in her hair.  I think we laughed all the way back to her room.
She was my friend and I will miss her.

I met Leanne circa 1985-1986, when I first arrived at Carleton University, coming from a warm, tropical Central American country called Honduras. We became best of friends and one nice summer we ventured via train all the way to Kenora to visit Diane and Rolf.  I had a great time and met most of Leanne's childhood friends and neighbors.  I also met Necole on that trip.Diane was specially loving, kind and generous with me. I will hold in my heart very sweet memories of her laughing,telling a story and being a mom to me too. She loved for her daughters and grandkids in a very special way. May Diane's soul rest in peace and confort to the hearts of all of those who loved her.

Our deepest condolences to Leanne Necole and their families. I have many fond memories of Diane. She rented off of my Mom and Dad we all became close with her and her beautiful daughters. She was a kind funny lady and will always have  a special place in my heart.

This was a birthday party for Mom.  Both Uncle Stan and her are gone now.  Hope they are dancing in heaven.
