Christina was born in Maria Alm, Austria on March 2, 1935. She grew up in an environment that fostered her love for the outdoors where she enjoyed countless
hours either hiking or skiing in the mountains.
In 1957 she immigrated to Canada, arriving in Winnipeg where she first was employed as a nanny before moving to Sioux Narrows where she met and married Cliff. Together they built the Maple Leaf Motel, which they owned and operated for twenty five years. After selling the motel, Christina moved into her lakeside cottage which she loved immensely and was home to her until her passing. She loved the lake, either sitting on her deck and enjoying the beauty or exploring it in her little boat and occasionally stopping to fish for awhile. ln the winter she was able to pursue her love for skiing and enjoyed her cross-country treks across frozen water.
Christina was a very active participant in the community and worked at a number of jobs which she always took a personal interest in whatever she did, whether it be driving school bus, child care, housesitting, dog sitting, cooking, housekeeping or caretaking. Her position of lunch hour supervisor at the local school was a perfect fit for her as her love for each and every one of the children was shown through her care and kindness to them as she treated them as her own. She thoroughly enjoyed her time with the children and was quick to respond to "Mrs. Lutz will you help me”. She was very proud to be a part of the OPP association in her position of custodian. She took great pride in having the cars looking immaculate and the grounds well maintained. Christine enjoyed her morning get-togethers for coffee with the girls and catching up on the local happenings. She had a very positive outlook, was always willing to help others, but did not like to bother anyone if she herself needed assistance.
She loved to travel but whether it was a trip back to Austria to visit family, a cruise or a road trip, she mostly enjoyed just being home. She loved to garden and
looked forward to spring when she could plant her flower boxes, so she could enjoy their beauty throughout the summer.
She was predeceased by her parents Josef and Barbara Mosshammer of Austria.
Surviving are her brother Erhard (Crystl), sister Rosa (Hans), nieces Christiane and Margret, nephew Hartwig, seven great nieces and nephews, a cousin and
best friend Hilda all of Austria. She was a wonderful lady who leaves behind a treasury of memories by all who have been blessed to have their lives touched by her. She will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her, especially her "Canadian families".
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when the day is done.
I’d like to leave an echo, whispering softly down the way,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun
Of happy memories I leave behind, when the day is done.
