Charlie was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved his family and looked forward to the family gathering.
He was born in Winnipeg, attended King George elementary school and Lord Selkirk High School. After graduation he found his niche at Union of Canton insurance Co., travelling to N.W. Ontario to visit various insurance agencies & he was offered a partnership at Sutcliffe Insurance group in Kenora, ON. He decided to take that offer and the family moved to Kenora in January 1965. They loved the town, the people and the way of life. Very soon they were in to skiing at Mt Evergreen Ski Club, golfing at Kenora Golf Club, as well as many other community events. Charlie liked to be involved in projects to the betterment of the area and joined the Kinsmen Club, was on the board of the Association for the Mentally Handicapped (now Kenora Assoc. for community living) (KACL), Kenora Hospital Board, Insurance Institute of Canada, Hospital Foundation, and many more over the years.
We will miss him so much. Many thanks to the doctors on the 3rd floor hospital staff for their excellent care and thoughtfulness during Charlie’s long stay.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, please donate to Special Olympics Kenora; Lake of the Woods Hospital Foundation.
