Barry Cederwall
November 15, 1947 - January 27, 2011
It is with very heavy hearts that the family of the late Barry Roy Cederwall, announce his unexpected passing on January 27th, 2011, at the age of 63. Barry was born on November 15th, 1947, in Kenora, Ontario. He was the only son of Edward and Gladys Cederwall.
Barry will be sadly missed by Jane, his loving and devoted wife of 42 years. Barry and Jane have two children, Son Corey, (Wyntar) and Daughter, Amber, (Mike). Their lives have been deeply enriched by their precious Grandsons: Donovan Neufeld-Cederwall; Jacob and Tyler Cederwall; and Step-grandsons, Brendan and Jayden. "Poppa" had a special way of teasing all his boys and they loved him dearly. He was so proud of all his Grandsons and they filled his life with joy.
Along with his immediate family, Barry is survived by his three sisters: Beryl Nachuk (Archie), Shelley Heatherington (Perry) and Angie Kinger (Donnie); his Mother-in-Law, Mary Rapinda, and two Brothers-in-law, Mel Rapinda (Marlene) and Greg "Rappie". He is also survived by Aunts and Uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
Barry was predeceased by his Parents and Father-in-Law, Stephen "Mickey" Rapinda, as well as many Aunts and Uncles.
Barry worked at various jobs in his youth including the Dryden Paper Mill, the Kenora Paper Mill as well as Bannister Pipelines, before joining his Dad in the family business, Ed's landscaping. Barry was instrumental in expanding the business to include Cederwall Custom Paving which he was very proud of. Over the years Barry was a respected businessman and became friends with many of his business associates.
All through their life together, Barry and Jane met and made many good friends through workplaces, curling and travel. Over the years, Barry enjoyed boating, golfing, curling and travel. He particularly enjoyed a good game of cribbage at the daily International Tournament with Jack Fishel and Rod Bennett (USA) verses Joe Boucher and Barry (Canada) at the poolside in Mexico.
For the last 20 years, Barry and Jane fell in love with Mexico and the people there. They spent as much time as they could enjoying their second home in Nuerto Vallarta. It gave both great pleasure to have family and friends join them there for "lots of fun and laughter in the sun". They were very proud to introduce their immediate family and very dear friends, Diane and Joe, Carla & Herb, June & Jim and a host of Kenoraites, to the strong friendships they made in Nuevo, namely Jack & Lynda, Rod & Betty, Bob Murphy, Reggie, and dear friend/neighbour, Bernardo. Time spent with family and friends was very important to Barry...his loss will affect many people in all walks of life.
A Celebration of Barry's life took place on Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011 at the Travelodge Banquet Room.
Be at peace, Dear Barry. We love you.
