Alma Powell – a resident of Pinecrest Home for the aged passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011.

Alma was born in Roblin, Manitoba on December 7, 1913. She came to Kenora on January 31, 1931 and worked at the Dalmore Hotel, prior to her marriage to Reggie Powell in 1941.

Alma was predeceased by her husband Reg on September 22, 1978, and her only child Gary on March 21, 2011. Alma was also predeceased by her parents, her brothers Ben, Tony, Walter and sisters Mary and Iris.

Alma is survived by her sisters Anne, Mildred, Patricia, Jean, Olga and her brother Matt. As well as numerous: nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

During her life Alma enjoyed knitting and gardening. She really enjoyed dancing and socializing with friends and her son Gary. Her favourite times were the many trips her and her son Gary took touring Europe together.

A life well and freely lived!

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 from 10:00am – 11:00am at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:00am with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake of the Wood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alma’s memory to the Pinecrest Home for the Aged Auxillary or a charity of one’s choice.
