July 1, 1941 - November 12, 2012
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Al (Allan) George Totten after a brief illness.
Al was born July 1, 1941 at Indian Head, Saskatchewan.
Surviving Al and left to mourn his passing are his wife Gina (Georgina), daughter Cinda, grandchildren Jeremy and Brandon, one brother Gordon, one aunt Marion, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, plus great nieces and nephews, many cousins, as well as one special godchild Mitchell.
Al always worked. As a young lad he joined the Air Force for a time. He worked in many places at a variety of jobs.
Moving to his present home was one of Al's greatest challenges and most satisfying accomplishments. He was always busy building, plumbing, wiring or fixing something. There wasn't much he wouldn't tackle.
Al loved the many birds and wildlife of the wilderness, but most of all he loved the beauty and peace that the area had to offer. This he shared with everyone.
Al was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Al was born July 1 and as a child he thought the parade and Canada Day Celebrations were all about him. At this time of the year, his daughter Cinda and grandchildren often vacationed here which helped Al to celebrate his birthday.
Sitting in his favorite chair with his dogs by his side, he would often look around his empire and comment, "What more could you ask for of life!" He always felt privileged to be here.
A special thank you goes out to Pat, Barry, Barry and Chris, and volunteers with the Pellatt firefighters who went above and beyond expectations in helping me. They could not have done more.
Also thanks to St. John's Ambulance and Lake of the Woods Hospital personnel who were very helpful and caring.
Cremation has taken place. As per Al's request, there will be no service.
If friends so desire, donations in memory of Al may be made to: The Pellatt Firefighters, Box 1, Site 6B, RR#1, Keewatin, Ontario P0X 1C0 or The Royal Canadian Legion, Keewatin Branch #13, 810 Front Street, Keewatin, Ontario P0X 1C0.
