Yvonne Cameron was called to the Lord on November 24th, 2023, after a full life dedicated to the service and love of all the people who were a part of her earthly world. She never let anyone go without food, clothing, encouragement, a listening ear, a birthday cake...or even Santa. Throughout her life, this same consideration was readily extended to family, friends, and neighbors. Her dedication to serving people was most evidenced by the positive impacts she had on husband, kids, grandkids, great- grandkids, sisters, nieces, nephews, and generally anyone she crossed paths with in her life. She was also an extended mother to her daughters-in laws
She was a woman of deep faith who always knew there was a way around or through any hardship. She knew God would lead her to help and show the way. Yvonne had a keen intuition about people. She always seemed to know when those around her needed a kind touch. She was the first to give someone a lift by pointing out that person's best attributes.
Yvonne was born in Panama City, Panama on March 9th, 1946, the eldest of three girls, to Mintrea and Harold Morrison. She never failed to remind her sisters, Patricia (Patsy) and Nilcia that she was the eldest. Yvonne spent her early life in Panama City, many years in Yonkers NY, and finally in Kennesaw Ga. Many of these years were dedicated to working in the banking industry across numerous companies. She volunteered whenever needed at her children’s school as her love of children was her passion.
Amazingly, Yvonne and her husband, Tito Cameron, met on Oct 1966. Tito would often tell the story of how they met "whomever wants to be my friend will give me a kiss. Yvonne would be the only holdout. Tito and Yvonne married on December 22, 1967, in Panama City. Theirs was an enviable 56-year merging of two souls devoted to one another, rooted in deep faith, yet with enough space to grow and flourish as individuals. They were a team, truly helping each other manage and balance work demands and their busy home life. Over the decades they made their homes in Yonkers NY and finally Kennesaw Ga. Laughter and warmth were the largest furnishings in each home. Yvonne loved to fill everyone’s belly with her wonderful cooking. She was the fun mom for her own two children and grandchildren.
Yvonne loved hosting and cooking meals and/or baking for friends and family. She always food in the house ready. She loved collecting trinkets from her many travels. She also loved dancing with her “Tito”, Marc Anthony, Teddy Pendergrass music, romance novels, shopping traveling, jewelry, clothes, and shoes. She loved going to parties.
Her big warm heart and love of family grew exponentially with the birth of each of her grandchildren: Aliyah, Melina, Cory and her great child Astro. She was and will always be "Nana" and “Yaya” to all of them. She would play for hours with each of them. Also, even though she hated the water she would only indulge in that if it was the wish of her grandchildren. She always made sure there was a room in her home to accommodate sleepovers.
Yvonne will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her. Everyone should be comforted by the incredible strength and resilience and unwavering faith she displayed as she battled her declining health.
She is survived by her husband, Tito Cameron, her sons Alex(Junior) and Marc Cameron, her grandchildren; Aliyah, Melina, and Cory Cameron one great- grandchild Astro McKnight her sisters Patricia(Patsy) Savage and Nilcia Diaz, her nieces Idalia Adams, and Christina Diaz, nephew Jonathan Diaz, daughters in law Dionne and Saryna Cameron. Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents Mintrea Morrison and Harold Morrison
