William (Bill) McPhail of Acworth, GA passed away after a brief illness on November 9, 2022, in Marietta, GA surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Audrey Jarrett McPhail, of Woodstock, GA, and children Lawrence (Kimberly) McPhail of Acworth, GA, Christopher (Shelly) McPhail of Warner Robins, GA, Lisa (Richard) Burr of Kenmore, NY, Sandra (Roger) Mason of Kennesaw, GA, and Charles (Shana) McPhail of Canton, GA. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada to parents Charles and Irene McPhail, Bill initially worked for General Motors as a master machinist. During this time, he also pursued a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Industrial Education while teaching at Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, NY. After retiring from the General Motors Tonawanda, NY facility in 1977, he moved to Bowling Green, KY where he was a college professor at Western Kentucky University. The family moved to Acworth, GA in 1984, where he taught at Chattahoochee Technical Institute in Marietta, GA until his retirement.
Bill was a loving father who enjoyed going on long road trips with his family. His love of road trips stayed with him for the duration of his life. Bill also enjoyed woodworking, delivering a good punchline, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and especially his great-grandchildren. Most of all, he enjoyed being Papa to his family and was a great role model and mentor for his loved ones.
A rosary for William will be held Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 2:00 pm. A funeral service will occur Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. A burial will occur Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Pine Ridge Memorial Park, 2950 Cobb Parkway North, Kennesaw, Georgia 31052.
