William D. Dean

William “Bill” Dean of Acworth Georgia passed away on December 18, 2024, twelve days short of his 104th birthday. He was born on December 30, 1920, in Atlanta, GA to Willie Joe Dean and Barbara Smith Dean. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather often sought out for his wisdom and advice.

Bill graduated from Tech High in Atlanta.

After graduation he went to work for Georgia Power Company moving to Atlanta Transit System when it was created and then to MARTA. Bill retired in 1981 after forty-one years. He held various positions through the years, including working in Human Resources and Training.

Following his retirement from MARTA, he drove a school bus for Cobb County.

Bill was a lifelong member of Georgia Masonic Lodges receiving his 75 year pin in 2023. He was also a member of Acworth Methodist Church.

William was drafted into the Army in 1942 and served until 1945. He served in the 152nd Infantry 38th Division in the Pacific theater during WW2 earning him a Bronze Star.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 78 years, Jacqueline Parish Dean.

William is survived by his children, Patrick Dean (Karen) and Linda Beyerle Dennis (Patrick); son-in-law Bill Beyerle, grandchildren Brian Beyerle (Michelle), Beau Beyerle (Jessica Godisak), Chloe Dean, Kayla Dean (Matt Viton); great grandchildren, Laurie Beth Beyerle, Jacque Beyerle, Evie Beyerle, Brianna Beyerle, Cale Beyerle, Sabin Beyerle, and Anton Beyerle.

The family would like to thank NHC Place Anniston and Enhabit Hospice Anniston for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Georgia National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 21st, 2024, at 1:30 PM. Visitation with the family at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge will begin at 11 AM and last until 12 PM on the same day. Interment to follow at Georgia National Cemetery on 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA 30114.
