Shirley Dean Gray, age 87, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. Shirley was born January 6, 1935 to the late Jewell and Kellet Cordle. She and her husband, Ed, raised their daughters in Kennesaw.
After a long career, Shirley retired from the Trim Shop of Lockheed Martin, where she often joked that she “sewed the wings on the planes”. She was an excellent seamstress and would make clothes for her daughters when they were growing up. Shirley loved to shop, but not for herself, for her family and friends. She had a green thumb and kept a beautiful garden for watching the birds, she made sure they always had food and water so they would come back to see her. Shirley was full of energy and always willing to step in to help friends and family. She loved to go on trips, if you asked her to go on a trip, she was always ready to go. Shirley was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Susan (Lee) Goynes of New Braunfels, TX and Carol Gray (Alex) Walker of Smyrna, GA; her grandchildren Scott Goynes of Austin, TX and Sean (Kaylee) Goynes and her great grandson Theodore Rommie Goynes of Augusta, GA; and many loved nieces, nephews and their spouses and children.
