Shirley Ann Baker, age 86, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024. Shirley was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. She loved to create oil paintings, sew, make quilts, make rag dolls, crochet, travel, go to Mardi Gras balls, host family holiday gatherings, and spend time with her family and friends. She was a people person. She never met a stranger. She was a true Southern Belle especially when it came to hospitality. She always wanted to look her best. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by her son Joe Hester (Ilona); daughters Julie Arnold, Robin Southern (Jeff), and Allison Brown (Larry); stepdaughters Pamela Williams (Joe), Frances Goss (Harold), and Karen Shubert; stepson James Baker (Peggy); brothers Jimmy Nelson (Shelia) and Kenneth Nelson (Michelle); sisters Bonnie Bryant, Joyce Galle, and Deborah Harville (James), 9 grandchildren, 10.5 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father Raymond Nelson, mother Mamie Fulton, husband Walter Baker, sisters Eunice Ott, Gladys Olive, Marie Carbeno, Myrlene Dueitt, Helen Paulus, and Hazel Webb; and brother Edward Nelson.
Visitation for Shirley will be Friday April 19, 2024 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 11am until 1pm. Funeral service will follow the visitation at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park, Marietta, Georgia.
