Bob was born on March 27, 1929 in Beloit, WI to Samuel Oliver and Vaughn Mary Virden Dixon. He graduated Hononegah High School, Rockton IL. Bob was a proud member of the United Methodist Church, Rockton Talcott Library Board of Trustees and the American Legion. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict as a member of the 453rd Engineer Construction Battalion where his duties included Battalion Labor Non Commissioned Officer and Post Exchange Manager Non Commissioned Officer.
In 1981 he and his wife Shirley moved to Marietta, GA where he was a Real Estate Business Broker and owned/operated BillyBob’s Restaurant and Food Service on Atlanta Road for 20 years.
Bob devoted his life to his family as a loving husband, a wise, understanding, caring father and an awesome grandfather. He enjoyed golfing, outdoor activities, and traveling around the Southeast. As a sports enthusiast, he avidly followed the Atlanta Braves.
He leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Shirley (McDonald) Dixon, his son, Craig R. Dixon, his daughter, Sandra J Einstman, his grandson, Andrew J Einstman, two sisters, Virginia Karlin, Littleton, CO, Dorothy stone, husband, Al, Rockton, IL and two brothers, Samuel O Dixon, wife Millie, Mesa, AZ and Duane Dixon, wife, Carol, Rockfor IL and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Arbelle Loomis.
At family’s request, no public service will be held. A family celebration of Bob’s life will be held in the spring of 2017.
