The world lost a truly kind and selfless man on April 6, 2023, with the passing of Phillip ‘Kerry’ Parker. Kerry was a devoted husband to his wife of 32 years, Jimma Parker, and a loving father to his three sons, Blake, Lawson, and Spencer. He was a man of faith, a devout Christian who lived his life by the teachings of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Kerry was born on June 23, 1963, in Acworth, Georgia, to Wren and Frank Parker. He graduated from Georgia Southern and started his career in Jacksonville, FL, in the Commercial Underwriting Department with State Farm. Kerry went on to have a successful career that spanned 38 years, spending the last 23 years in Bloomington, IL, at their home office before transitioning to Greensboro, GA, with his wife in 2021.
Kerry's true passion was his family, and he devoted himself to being the best husband and father he could be. He enjoyed coaching junior high basketball and was proud to have taken two teams to the state tournament. When he wasn't coaching, you could find him in the stands cheering on his boys at their sporting events and spending quality time with them. Kerry's personality lit up any room he entered and his warm smile and welcoming demeanor made everyone feel at ease in his presence; Along with his goofy, charismatic, contagious aura, which radiated over those who had the pleasure to know him.
Kerry was also deeply committed to his community and spent countless hours leading small group teams, ministering to those in need, and volunteering his time and resources to various projects that gave back to society. He was a man who did everything with his whole heart; his selflessness and generosity touched the lives of many.
Kerry is predeceased in death by his parents, Wren and Frank Parker. He is survived by his wife, Jimma Parker; his sons Blake, Lawson, and Spencer; his brother, Frank Parker (Terri); his sisters, Debbi Parker Smith (Mark) and Letha Parker Wierzbowski (Joe); his lifelong friends, Caroline and Gary Holmes; and many other family members and friends.
Kerry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, selflessness, and dedication to his family and community will live on forever. May he rest in peace in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
