Peggy was born in 1943, in Lynn, AR, where she graduated from Lynn High School, then received a business degree from Draghn’s Business College in Memphis, TN. She had a long career in the banking business, becoming the first woman officer ever in Nashville within the banking system for which she worked. Her later career was in benefits, at three different companies. She was a dedicated and hard worker, with a strong and determined spirit.
Peggy was an amazing mom to her daughter, Sharon, and was her biggest encourager and supporter, while instilling the values of faith, hard work, kindness, compassion, responsibility, and honesty, with a sense of humor and the importance of having fun liberally sprinkled in! She carried these traits with her throughout her life, where she was always ready with a smile and a peppy word of encouragement, making it her mission to brighten someone’s day! She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Peggy married her beloved Terry in August of 1991, and they enjoyed twelve happy years together before he died in February of 2004, after which she made her home in Kennesaw near her daughter and family. She was an active member of Wildwood Baptist church. She enjoyed a full and active life, spending time with her family, and her friends from church, work, her cancer support group, gym, and neighborhood.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Sharon, and her husband, Darrell, along with their four children—Jessica and her husband, Taylor, and their children Lyla and Brayden; Casey and his fiancé, Ellie; David and his wife, Emily, and baby Esther; and Catherine and her husband, Daniel. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Teresa, and her son, Jason and his wife, Kirsten.
A celebration of life service will take place Friday, December 9, 2022, at 1:00 pm, with a visitation from 11:30-12:50, at Wildwood Baptist Church, with Pastor Ric Cadle officiating. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be given to Wildwood Baptist Church, 4801 Wade Green Road, Acworth, GA 30102.
