Melinda attended St. Frances grade school and attended St. Frances and Morgantown High Schools. She attended West Virginia University. After college, she was an executive secretary at a law firm in Morgantown. Melinda loved to dance and was a talented piano player. She frequently did both at her parents “Babbling Brook Inn” – a biergarten and dance hall.
She lived in Morgantown until her early adult years when she moved to Akron, OH with husband Frank Balint in 1953. After moving to Akron, she started “B’s Natural Foods”, where she sold healthy organic foods and herbal supplements. Melinda loved people and had a spirit of helping those in need. She drove special needs children to elementary schools in Green Township, Ohio. In 1969, Melinda and Frank moved to Wingfoot Lake Park where she lived for the remainder of her years in Ohio.
In 1986, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she lived with her daughter and best friend Sue until the time of her passing. While in Atlanta, Melinda helped manage the after-school program at St. Joseph Elementary School in Marietta, GA (where daughter Sue taught, and grandsons Bryon, Eric, and Chris attended). She also helped to manage the after-school program at Lewis Elementary School in Kennesaw, GA.
Melinda loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother – and she was the best at all three. Affectionately known as “Grams”, she lit up when she was around them. Melinda saw the good side in every person, and never had a harsh word to say about anyone. She loved life and loved people.
Melinda had a calling as an intercessor. For many years, she received prayer requests from friends and family who were struggling with difficult situations. She would go to church multiple days per week and pray for several hours. She was a Godly Christian woman. Melinda had notebooks full of handwritten passages from the Bible, and she quoted scripture with Sue until her very last days. She was at peace knowing she would be in her Lord and Savior’s everlasting care in Heaven.
She is preceded in death by her former husband Frank Balint, baby daughters Melinda and Frances, son David (Sharon Crace), sister Frances, brother George, and sister-in-law Sondra. Melinda is survived by brother Joe Moser (Marianne), sons Barry (Carol), Jeff (Loretta), and daughter Sue. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bryon (Nora), Eric (Suzanne), Christopher, Shari, Tony, Joe (Kristina), and Christian (Lauren), as well as eight great-grandchildren, Nick, Michael, Lucy, Emmett, Dakota, Joe, Cohen, and Carmen. A private family celebration of life will be conducted at a later date. The family would like to thank the Interim Health Care of Georgia for their wonderful care. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at www.dignitymemorial.com.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Melinda, a contribution can be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (1618 Ben King Rd NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144).
