Sooo many wonderful memories.  Family camping trips were amazing; so was boating - some of the best memories I will have with me for the rest of my life.  Jumping off those cliffs though?  Holy smack - we were crazy!!!!  Swimming, laughing, eating Goober sandwiches - which started a tradition for Paul and I of making them when we head out on the lake lol.  Thank you for making those memories for/with me Marky - love you forever and see you soon.

Hey bud, how is it going up there? I can only imagine how beautiful it is. You definitely deserve beautiful and happiness because you made so many many of us happy with your contagious smile. Thank you for visiting us and playing jokes on us.. I talk to you ALL the time and I know you are listening and probably thinking, "will you hush already!" I know that everyone that we love up there can hear us, but will you remind them that we love all of you.. And I have a feeling that you have Sophie.. Cuddle her extra for me please. I have so many wonderful memories of you, but I will write about the best memory I will have forever. You and your momma flew out to Florida to stay with us for a bit. Your mom managed to carry you (a baby) and a cake from Brings Bakery!! She is truly is Wonder Woman!! We had the best time ever. You took a bath in the kitchen sink and I got as wet as you did and I loved every minute of it!!! I didn't want you guys to leave. It was like part of my heart was leaving gone. I cried so hard every day and night for a long time because I missed you both so much and I got very attached to you. The memories with all 3 of you guys and Chey are absolutely priceless. You will always be Cheyenne's brother and the son I always dreamed of. God has you now, and I know I will see you again, but it hurts so much, and your mom, dad and brothers are having a hard time. Help them to feel your presence and peace. I love you bud, always and forever. 

Ohh Mark! Mark was and still is my best friend. Mark was a character above all others. When i first met Mark we were both going through some positive changes in our lives. We were a lot alike, we leaned on each other for strength and hope. We shared our dreams, fears , and cereal. The thing that stands out the most about Mark was he knew the right thing to say at the right time to make any dismal situation lighter by the second. We spent a lot of time together. He was my best friend. I miss him every day. I walk past the door to his room every day wanting to so much wish i could open the door and he be there, saying "what's up man". Im so very sorry for his family, his mom and dad especially. No parent should ever have to bury their child. My heart and prayers are with you. I find myself asking God why Mark? It shouldn't have been him. I know God has his reasons. I am very grateful for the time i had to spend with Mark. He enriched my life and was the truest of friends. I will miss him dearly and not a day will go by that i won't be missing his witty one liners. So my brother i will see you on the other side get the xbox ready cause you still owe me a rematch. I love you man you will never be forgotten.

I didn’t know Mark for long but he was such a good guy. He was friendly and put up with me as an annoying roommate. I miss him. I’m so sorry for the loss of his family.

Mark was such a wonderful person.. truly caring and compassionate. My favorite memories with Mark are when we used to sit in his room playing guitar and hanging out for hours.. He taught me quite a bit and he gave me a blue capo to use since I didn't have one. It was little things like that he did all the time for people that will be cherished forever. You are already missed so much Mark... love you dude. 💙

Mark bro. You were always a free spirit. I'll never forget your smooth style and slick way with words. I wish I could hear you pull in my driveway in the ol dodge neon one more time. Boy was it loud but I knew it was worth it because laughs were soon to come. I watched Ricky and morty for 2 hours the night I found out. It was like you were talking to me thru the episodes. Haha I love you bro. Rest easy big man.


So I looked up the name Markham to see what it meant and appropriately it meant “gift of god”. I don’t have just one memory of my incredibly gifted nephew but I do have a lifetime of moments that meant the world to me. There were the younger years when I’d visit my sis in New York and then Tennessee and I always remember that Markham was such a sweet, kind and respectful boy. My boys always had the best time when we went to visit as they loved their cousins and enjoyed every moment with them. We always had fun fishing or going to the lake or even a movie with the whole gang was great. So as I am in such great pain I will always remember that Markham was a “gift of god”, my godson, an incredible human being. My only peace is that he is now with his grandparents and my brother. Rest In Peace little buddy, I’m going to miss you so much!!!

I remember when little Mark was born. Tyler came 9 months after.
Kim & I had lots of adventures on Long Island with our boys.  Mark was a fixture at Tyler's birthday parties and Brandon joined too.  
When we visited in Tennessee, we had a blast. Only we would go to Dollywood in a torrential downpour and have to buy 7 Veggie Tales raincoats to keep us dry!
Rest in peace Markham. May your family cherish all the wonderful memories you made together. You will remain forever in our hearts.

While there are many thousands of Mark Smith in the phone book, this particular one was one of a kind.  His sense of style and humor were unique.  So quirky and funny, he kept us all smiling from the beginning.  Im 53 years old and have a lot of friends in the tapestry of my life, but Marks thread has a color I will never be able to replace. He was a good friend and comes from good family.  Gone far too soon.  I love you and will miss you every day for the rest of my life.  Put another way,  I'll see you again.  Until then, rest easy.... your struggle is over.   

Mark was exactly the kind of friend a person would hope to have. Every memory I have of spending time with him was fun and we would laugh together the whole time. Already miss you bro. 

My favorite memory with Mark is when he’d show me all this longboards, guitars, and watches he had. I also loved hearing him play the guitar. He was so talented. Love you Mark.

My heart just stopped when I heard the news of Markham. I haven't seen you in fifteen years but your family instantly became a part of me the day I met you. I think of all of you quite a bit, I see all your proud mom's posts and I smile at how grown up and how close you are as a family.  Kim, you and those kids are the only good memories that I have of a time when I struggled to keep my head up. Markham's smile kept me going. He was so sweet and genuine and I will never forget the impact he made in my life. He opened up to me and the kids from day one. I feel like I have lost a son. This is my worst nightmare and I will never forget him. My heart aches for you, Kim, Mark, Ryan, and Brandon. I am at a loss of words. So many nights spent listening to mark and Jonathan play music. We bonded over our love for Brittney Spears and Justin Timberlake. He was always there with a listening ear. I’ll forever carry his memory in my heart. 

I grew up with Marks dad back in New York  Nothing but laughs and a real gentle giant. I imagine this young man was just like that. Rest easy Lad.

One of my favorite memories with mark was when I came down for part of the summer and the whole family went bowling. Mark, Brandon, Ryan, and I had a great night blowing those bowling pins up. That summer was full of great times and joyful laughs. I’ll never forget the hills you guys took me to, to shred it up on our longboards. I was lucky enough to witness mark play his guitar. I’ve always wanted to play guitar, so watching him shred it up was pretty incredible. Rest easy mark. Love you man

Oh mark, we have had so many memories, good and bad, and i wish i had pictures to keep in times like this. I am in tears writing this. Its safe to say you were my best guy friend. We talked everyday. You always made me laugh. I keep waiting on a text saying you're ready to see me, that you bought a futon for me to sleep on when i come visit. I keep waiting for a text telling me to get my shit together and what to do, that you'd help me. You gave the best advice and i know we were both struggling, but you still made me laugh/smile. You had a heart of gold, and i trusted you with my life and i don't say that about many. I sleep in your room when i go to your house, now i will definitely cherish that even more. I wrote another note on your mirror for when you come home... I'm so upset i didn't get to see you in person marky mark (i always called him that) if you have the chance to see someone, go, because you'll never know when the last time you get to see someone is. You were way too young and i wish i would've talked to you before this happened, if id have known maybe i could've changed your mind. I will miss you forever. Little Mark was always the quiet one at my house. Bran and Ry talkative and joking, but Mark came alive when he played music. He was and will forever be so loved.

Mark and I wen't to the same schools together throughout our entire life. I remember at Sylvan we would cut up and watch videos on our laptops without our teacher (Scott) knowing, we'd make the screen so small and in the corner of our laptop so that it looked like we were working , then one day me and mark are watching a movie and turn to look over our shoulders to see our teacher literally crouched down with his head over our shoulders watching it too, BUSTED LOL. 

You were a good friend man and always had a big heart.

I can't believe you're really gone. You were my birthday twin. Remember when we wore matching outfits the year before last. I hate that we grew apart. I hate that you're gone forever. I am sorry to here about Mark it really hurts. I feel for his mom dad and his brothers. Mark and my son Jonathan were best friends for several years and loved playing music together. Mark was at our house a lot and seemed like family. I lost my son Jonathan in 2017 and after that I didn't see Mark a lot but he text my pretty often to check on me and see how I was doing and now I will miss hearing from him. This all just seems so unreal and brings back so many memories. I am so sorry Kim, Markham, Brandon and Ryan l am thinking of you all.  

No words can describe the overwhelming sadness I feel. Marky had a heart of gold. I have a lifetime of memories...your birth, all the holidays, birthday parties, my kids grew up with you as their cousin.  A hole is left in my heart forever.  This doesn't seem real.
