Margaret Elizabeth Hubsch, 91, of Acworth, GA, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2020 following a brief illness. Margaret was born on February 19, 1929 in West Conshohocken, PA to James and Margaret Brennan. Margaret graduated from Norristown Area High School and soon after met the love of her life, Donald Hubsch. Margaret and Donald were married for more than 68 years and Margaret loved her early life as a busy mother of three boys and her beloved Boxer pup. She enjoyed many years of volunteering and loved spending every summer with her husband and family in idyllic Ocean City, NJ, where lifelong memories were built and live on.
Over the course of their married life, Margaret and Don lived in Big Spring, TX, Wantagh, NY, East Brunswick and Westfield, NJ, Bluffton, SC and Acworth, GA. They made good friends everywhere they went and were a competitive bridge team, taking 1st Place in several regional NABC tournaments in Atlantic City, NJ.
Margaret and Don traveled the world and were affectionately known as the “rowdy ones” amongst their travel groups. Margaret was a passionate reader and a fun and funny storyteller. She loved playing games from Trouble, to backgammon to dominos to canasta. She was famous for her hugs, her beautiful silver hair, her happy smile and her Christmas cookies.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Donald, her sons Tom (Laura) of Acworth, GA and Andy (Stephanie) of Pacific Palisades, CA as well as her sister Carol (Bob) of Venice, FL and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and brother and her oldest son, Donald Hubsch, Jr.
Margaret will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at a future date. Condolences may be sent to Donald Hubsch at 4460 Celebration Blvd, Apt 9124, Acworth GA, 30101. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of their oldest son, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
