Leonard George Moore

Leonard George Moore, 95- 8 days shy of 96, of Marietta, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 18, 1pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Pastor George Gainey officiating. Burial will follow at Pineridge Memorial Park in Kennesaw with Masonic Rites. A lifelong resident of Cobb County, Mr. Moore was very active in his community and Church. He was a lifetime member of the Smyrna Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon and Elder. Mr. Moore was a Mason and the former President of the Cobb Association for Retarded Citizens. Mr. Moore had volunteered with many youth organizations which included Sports, Cub and Boy Scouts. A WWII Veteran of the Army Mr. Moore continued his civic duty with the Smyrna Civil Defense and was a volunteer Firefighter. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Martha. Those who survive Mr. Moore are his sons – Greg G. Moore and wife Rosemarie of Kennesaw and L. Arlen Moore of Acworth along with 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and longtime caregiver Cheryle Hooper. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8pm Monday, December 17 at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers Mr. Moore requested donation to be made to the Cobb Association for Retarded Citizens, 615 Roswell St NE Marietta, GA 30060-2196.
