Lauren Bryant Riley, age 53, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023. She was born on August 18, 1969 in Brattleboro, Vermont. She was the daughter of David Forrest Bryant and Susan Russell Bryant.
Lauren was a teacher for over 20 years, and when she was not in the classroom you could find her at a beach. She was a huge “foodie” and prided herself on eating natural homemade foods. She was also part of The Weston A. Price Foundation and would also educate others on the benefits of a healthy eating lifestyle.
She was a faithful Christian for over 26 years and enjoyed hosting meetings in her home. She was often described as a Proverbs 31 woman.
Lauren loved to be outdoors, hiking trails, and being around God’s creation. She herself radiated that spirit, and that spirit sparkled throughout her life.
She was a home-school parent/teacher for many years and was devoted to her children’s education. She homeschooled her children and guided them lovingly and firmly throughout the process.
Lauren was a national merit scholar. She chose to study English Literature. She studied abroad for a year in Scotland and was an active reader who loved Jane Austen books. When her eyesight was compromised from cancer, she listened to podcasts and books on tapes.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Latas Dupart Riley; her son, Isaac Henderson Riley; her daughter, Anna Eileen Riley; her parents; and two brothers, Edward “Ned” Russell Bryant and Jonathan Forrest Bryant. She is also survived by a host of in-laws, nieces, and nephews, as well as her beloved shih tzu, Mushu.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00AM ET, at North River Church of Christ, 320 Austin Avenue, Marietta, GA 30066.
