He was born to Melvin and Linda Prather on April 3, 1988 in Conyers, Georgia. As a child, Joshua learned and mastered the skill of karate that he developed further as a teenager. As many friends can attest to, he was always one to make others smile and laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family as well as listening to music. He is a graduate of Gilmer High School and lived life to the fullest - he went skydiving, ziplining, and parasailing as an adult.
He served his country through the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an Iraq Veteran who had gone on two separate tours, one of which he voluntarily deployed with a Texas unit he did not know personally.
Joshua's philosophy in life can be summed up by a saying that he quoted on his facebook page, "The World's an open book and if you don't travel, you only read one page."
