I just seen this. Jon helped my life in a time of misery in 2005

I was fortunate to serve with "Ski" in Afghanistan.  I had been in the military longer and was older but he was a combat Vet who taught me a Lot!  I have some awesome memories and photos of him, that I would love to share with the family if they wish.  "Ski" was one of the finest Men I have ever met, and a TRUE Patriot. I did not know Deputy Koleski, but my heart is broken for his immediate family as well as our Cobb community.  Thank you for your service for our country as well as locally for us right here in Cobb County.  He was a HERO and thank you!! Prayers to the family!

My heart goes out to this hero's family, officers put thier lives on the line EVERY day! We do not take thier service and sacrifice for granted! 

I did not know Deputy Koleski.  But, as a citizen of Cobb County I am deeply saddened at his passing and grateful for his service to our nation in the various uniforms that he wore over the course of his career.  There will be some long and difficult days ahead for his family, loved ones, and fellow LEO's as they learn to adjust to his absence.  I'll be praying for them all.


2 weeks ago I had the honor of speaking with Deputy Koleski when he came to my home to serve me with court documents to appear in probate court.  When he knocked on my door, I said I have been waiting for you and he just looked at me and chuckled,  We talked for about 5 mintues.  Such a caring officer.  The last thing I said was be safe.  He gave me a thumbs up.  God bless Jon's family.  🙏

I remember meeting Amy my freshman year of college and staying late after class and studying together sometimes. I recall sitting next to her earlier in the semester and looking over in class and noticing her computer’s wallpaper. It was a picture of her and Jon on their wedding day in front of his patrol car. She was so proud to be with him. She spoke of Jon in such a loving, admirable way. I know she loved and cherished him and their memories together so much. And I feel confidently he felt the same. I cannot comprehend the hurt Amy, and Jon’s family and friends must be feeling right now. I send my deepest sympathy. 

Jon, you were like the big brother I never had growing up. Still in shock and completely speechless. We love you! Jon, me and his sister(my bestie) at our Ring Ceremony in our Junior Year. Sleep in Peace my brother! Thank you for your service.

I first meet John (Ski to us) when we both arrived at Fort Campbell back in 2004. We ended up being roommates and on the same fire support team  for the following year before our deployment to Iraq in October 2005. Ski was the funniest person I had ever meet, quick witted and always had something funny to say or movie line to quote. He had a natural charisma about him that drew a lot of us towards him as friends, as he made you feel welcome. He made our first deployment a lot more bearable with his personality and calm demeanor. I remember being really bummed out when I found out he had decided to not reenlist, but at the same time happy to see he had a plan to get out and become a sheriff, even though him leaving the service was one of the more difficult friends to see leave. I’m in absolute tears as I write this and my heart and prayers go out to his family and loved ones. John was a one of a kind person, I’ve never meet anyone like him and I am lucky to have. Rest easy brother 

My prayers are with each of you. We lost our son in a LLOD 9-14-14. Prayers for comfort, peace and strength to survive from mourning to joy.

Jon was loud, goofy, and crazy and I wouldn’t change a thing. He was so fun. Our running group misses him terribly. 

God bless you sir and thank you for your service. You’re in the very presence of our lord and savior and he’s saying “welcome home my good and faithful son.” I didn’t know you or your comrade personally, but you guys have touched my heart in a way that makes me want to be closer to the Lord. I am a Christian, just not a very good one. If The Lord let’s you see thru the clouds, please know that your family and police family, we got their backs. I will never take for granted waking up in the morning or saying I love to someone. Fly high sir. Job well done. 

I was roughly 7 months pregnant and told Jon I was going to Macon GA to buy a puppy alone. He told me absolutely not and that nothing was going to happen to that baby on his watch! He drove me there and made sure me (and my now 4 year old) baby were safe the entire way. I will always miss you Jon. You were the best roommate and friend.
