at the age of 72. He lived his life with strength, honor, and love. John was born and raised in Miami, Florida where he would be until his adulthood.
Yearning to travel, John enlisted in the United States Navy but was stationed in Pensacola on the USS Lexington, for a total of 4 years and 2 days, John diligently served his country in active service and feed his love for his community. Following his military career, he found work at the Veteran’s Hospital in Decatur, Georgia for a total of 28 and a half years providing service to his brothers and sisters in arms. After his time with the VA Hospital, John chose to become an entrepreneur.
He would establish his own business as a home inspector and in 2021 would become a part time bailiff with the Cobb County Superior Court. Nothing made him happier, and prouder than wearing his badge. Throughout his 72 years, John never stopped serving his country and his community. His heart was far too big for his body, and his love was felt wherever he went. In his private life, John served as an honor guard with the Patriot Guard Riders, where he was fondly known as "Swatt." He provided sanctuary for bereaved families and honored veterans who had passed in active duty or by other means.
In 1985, he worked diligently and earned his pilot license. With it, he volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol, conducting numerous search and rescue missions and training young cadets for their future career.
Though John is no longer with us physically, may his spirit continue to guide us and give us strength. He was a man of honor and diligence, providing unwavering support to veterans and their families. He proved the true importance of community. May we all aspire to live as John did.
