He was born July 16, 1934 and raised in Cobb County. He served the Lord at Kennesaw United Methodist Church and his country in the U. S. Army in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Russell retired from Coca Cola Enterprises and was a founding member of the Kennesaw Jaycees where he served on the Board of Directors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Mary Lee Rampley Russell; brother, Edward Russell and his wife, Betty Russell.
Survived by his wife, Dorothy Ellison Russell; daughters, Janean Russell Godwin and her husband Derek, Janice L. Russell; son, Joel Russell, Jr. and his wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Curtis J. Godwin, Austin G. Peterson, Trevor K. Blacksmith, Trey D. Blacksmith; sisters, Shirley Dill and her husband, Terry, Mary Freeman Russell; brothers, Ronald Russell and his wife, Karen, Herbert Russell; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 15 at 11 AM at Kennesaw United Methodist Church with remains placed instate at 10 AM. Dr. Wallace Wheeles will officiate.
Interment with, military honors, will follow at Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends between the hours of 1 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
