Jean Hughes Cornwell, age 82, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Assured Hospice after living at Fite Living Centre for the past 2 1/2 years being cared for by their extraordinary staff. She was born on April 19, 1938 in Notasulga, AL, to her late parents; James McKinley and Frances Vivian Berry Hughes. Jean was a homemaker and raised her loving family. She loved Jesus and her Church, Eastside Baptist. Jean enjoyed cooking, flowers and gardening. Mrs. Cornwell was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dusty Cornwell and her son-in-law, Billy Davis.
She is survived by her loving children; Debra Davis of Snellville, GA, Pamela Cornwell of Marietta, GA, Tina and Jeff Geter of Marietta, GA, Kimberly and Keith Denton of Dallas, GA; brothers, Billy (Lillian) Hughes of Lancaster, OH, James ‘Buddy’ (Shirley) Hughes of Florence, AL, Bob (Marie) Hughes of Notasulga, AL; sisters, Mary Frances (Roy) Allen of Marietta, GA, Carolyn Hughes of Valley, AL; grandchildren, Bryan Davis, Kevin (Erin) Geter, Christie (Shannon) Melton, Taylor Denton, Dustin Denton; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Cornwell will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home at 10:00 AM with Reverend Tim McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow the service at White United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Winkenhofer Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to everyone who will not be able to attend the service or visitation in person due to the states Covid-19 restrictions If attending the visitation or funeral service, the staff of Winkenhofer Funeral Home recommends that a face mask be worn to help prevent the spreading any possible illnesses and to help keep our visitors and the family members of Mrs. Cornwell safe.
