Janice Edith Clarke, age 84 passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Janice was born in El Paso, Texas. Janice was a longtime biology schoolteacher within the El Paso, and Ysletta School districts as well as the Fort Worth district. Janice always loved learning and after obtaining her undergraduate degree, she went on to complete her master’s and PhD before retiring and moving to Georgia to be near her daughters. Janice also loved reading and was always in at least one book club throughout her life.
Janice loved the outdoors and was involved in the Sierra Club in El Paso, Tx as well as serving as a Sierra Club Regional Leader for the Southwest. Janice was an adventurous person who hiked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim, ran the Colorado River on a raft and visited at least one country on every continent during her travels.
Janice was a flower lover, specifically Roses. She was a Consulting Rosarian and was the President of the Fort Worth Rose Society for five years then after moving to Atlanta, she was involved in the Atlanta and Gwinnett Rose societies.
Janice is survived by her daughter Catherine Neel and Debbie Diedrich, nephews Bobby Clarke and sister-in-law Lynne Clarke. Family members proceeding her include her parents Robert and Edith Clarke, nieces Kimberly and Dorraine Clarke as well as grandson Ryan Diedrich.
A celebration of life gathering for Janice will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to nature and protecting the environment in Janice's memory may be made to Nature Conservancy in Georgia, or the Sierra Club – Georgia Chapter which are her two favorite organizations.
