James “Jim” Helton of Dallas, age 72 passed away, Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at home with family at his side. Born in Atmore, Alabama, Mr. Helton retired from JC Penny’s at Town Center and was a Baptist minister.
Mr. Helton is preceded in death by his wife, Louise Brantley Helton. He is survived by two sons, Sandy Helton of Dallas, John Helton of Atlanta; one daughter Sonya Dudziak, husband Bill, of Austin, Texas; one sister, Sheila Helton of Marietta; and six grandchildren, Chris and his wife Rachael, Allison, Bob, Ellen, Sorden, and Emma. He will also be missed by his former wife, Debra, and her sons Brad and Jason.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015, at 7pm in the chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, with Rev. Scotty Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 5pm until service time.
A funeral service will also be held in the chapel of Johnson Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, Alabama on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 3pm, the family will receive friends from 2pm until service time. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, Alabama.
