James "Jim” Dunn of Dallas, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on January 20th 2020. He was a father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend; highly revered for his willingness to help others, his stoicism and humility. If a person called for help, he was the first one to answer; and the last to let others know that he had. No matter the problems he faced, he was stalwart in facing them. Despite these admirable traits, he'd never raise his voice to bring attention to them.
Jim respected the world that the Lord has given us in its rawest form, and sought to see as much of it as he could. He viewed the world from as high as the peaks of the Appalachians, and as distant as Australia. Both the California and Golden Coasts were well worn by him, and the shores of Ireland were no strangers to his presence.
If man is made in God's image, Jim illustrated God's role as creator. Clothing, landscapes, old furniture, playgrounds, paper; there was no canvas he couldn't make art upon. He understood the intricate nature of an artists hand, and spent much time in awe of the works of man. From the intricacies of the Pieta to the swooping arches of Saint Peter's Basilica, he sought beauty in the works of others.
For these traits, and many others too numerous to list, we will miss him dearly.
Jim will forever be remembered by his wife Valarie, his loving daughter Carly, step daughters Sarah Meadows, Stephanie (Rich) Rapka and grandson Ethan whom he lovingly called ‘PopPop’, brothers- Jeff (Julie) Dunn, Johnson Dunn, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents James Otis Dunn Sr and Judy Chance. In laws Franklin Lynell Conner Sr and Dorothy Ann Conner.
The arrangements for Mr. James ‘Jim’ Dunn have been entrusted to the care of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 N. Cobb Pkwy Kennesaw, GA 30152. 770-422-7299. A private celebration of life will be held for family and close friends.
