Mr. Hugh Emory Ragsdale, age 83, of Marietta died Thursday, June 05, 2014, after a brief illness with cancer. Born and raised in Acworth, Mr. Ragsdale retired from J.M. Tull Metals as Vice President after 42 years. He was a charter member of the Gwinnett Rotary Club, an avid bridge player, and scout master to both of his sons. With friends and family, he traveled to all 50 states and 31 countries, and loved the annual fishing trips with his sons and spending weekends at his home in Big Canoe. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class.
Mr. Ragsdale was preceded in death by his spouse, Betty Ellison Ragsdale. He is survived by two sons, Steve (Jennifer) Ragsdale of Acworth and Warren (Terri) Ragsdale of Kennesaw, as well as his four grandchildren: Jessica, Kyle, Kevin and Cole. He is also survived by his companion of 27 years, Mary Alyce Cordell.
A Visitation will be held from 1-3pm Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with a Memorial Service following in the Chapel. Rev. David Chauncey officiating.
