Harvey F. Keast, age 86, of Kennesaw, Georgia (formally of Litchfield, Michigan) passed away on Thursday March 29, 2018. Harvey was born in 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Gertrude Bazner and Harvey H. Keast.
Harvey is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet Keast;; daughters Colleen Haseltine,(Phil), and Cathy Keast; (Christopher Schoppa); son Kenneth Keast; favorite and only granddaughter; Cherie Haseltine (James Terry); grandsons Christopher Haseltine, Jonathon Haseltine, Nathan Schoppa, and Matthew Schoppa; brother in law, George Sheerer; brother in law, Carlyle Eugene Justus; sister Dorthey Puckett (Ben) and many nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Dolores Sheerer, and Barbara Paczkowski. (Art)
Harvey was an avid University of Michigan and Detroit Tiger fan. The world stopped when a U of M football game was on TV. He spent many afternoons cheering on his Detroit Tigers. He loved to hunt,(especially deer) fish, drink his Pepsi and eat his malted milk balls. Harvey served as a Seebee in the United States Navy. He relished his time with his family and loved to play jokes on his family and friends. He always had a huge garden, which he shared with neighbors. He loved to help his neighbors out in the winter by shoveling out their driveways. Harvey was a former American Legion Commander and was active in his community, serving on the City Council and as Mayor. He was a milkman and owned and operated his own businesses, Park Avenue Dairy and McDonalds Dairy up until his retirement. He and wife operated Keast Koool Dairy Treats for many years in Litchfield.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home with a service to follow. Burial will be at Pine Ridge Memorial Park, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152.
