Evelyn had many amazing attributes that were very vibrant through her character. She was very loving and had a kind soul. She always put her family first. Evelyn was a very independent and strong person. Her love that she expressed to all people and animals came from her immeasurable heart. Caring and helping anyone in need was what made her happy; especially, caring for the elderly. She also adored her animals in her life, Blackie, Charlie and Shane.
She wore many hats through different jobs in her life, until she started her work for General Motors automotive plant which she retired from after 30 years of service. She married Verlin Olson and they remained married for the next twenty-six years before his passing.
Along with her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Dorsey (Maudine) Thompson and Emory Thompson; sisters, Dulcie Thompson, Inis Cochran, Audra Thompson, and Jessie (Fred) Anderson.
Evelyn is survived by her sister, Sarah Thompson, sister in law, Julia Thompson, many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the local humane society, Cherokee County Humane Society, www.cchumanesociety.org
A funeral service to honor Evelyn will be held on December 29, 2018, at three o’clock in the evening, at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Ga 30152. Services will be officiated by Minister Lynn Eynon. Family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service. Evelyn will be laid to rest with her husband, Verlin Olson immediately following the service.
