Eugene Gean Albert Curtis

Eugene Albert (Gene) Curtis, 93, Acworth resident died Tuesday February 1, 2017. Funeral services will be Tuesday 11 am February 7, 2017 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Raised in foster and mixed family homes in Pennsylvania.Joined the Navy at 17 and served in the North Atlantic in WWII was a Chief Petty Officer . Married Carolyn Strong in 1946. Went to Brigham Young University after the war and eventually became a Federal Probation Officer who concerned himself with rehabilitation. Used his job to promote fairness and justice within the law. After retirement, helped create the Bethesda program which helped troubled youths find a new path using Biblical principles. The program was welcomed in many places, including public schools, and goes on today.Taught by example that we live to serve others. And confront all things with humor. Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors included his wife of 70 years, Carolyn Strong Curtis, two sons; Don Curtis (Stephanie), and Jim Curtis, daughter; Lucy Curtis, eight grandchildren; Aaron Curtis, Jonathan Curtis, Caroline Quiggle, Hedy Criswell, Heather Quiggle , Hannah Curtis, Priscilla Curtis, and Nathannel Curtis, Fourteen great grandchildren. The family will be receiving friend and relatives Monday, February 6, 2017 from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral.
