Emily Jeanette Smith

January 14, 1940 – September 17, 2024

Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of our Mother Emily Jeanette (Mama) on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Mama was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Hubert Jesse Jones and Maybell Newsome Jones on January 14, 1940, predeceased by both. Mama was also predeceased by her sisters Jessie Holcombe and Ruby Yancey, and brother Jack Jones. Mama worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company until she retired. She didn’t stay retired long and started working in the deli – bakery at Publix in Hogansville. The ladies in the deli loved her banana pudding so much they started using her recipe to sell to their customers. She leaves a place in our heart to cherish memories of her. Survivors include her children Karen Jones (Ken), Audrey Gomes and Richard Lackey. Grandchildren Amy Norsworthy (Ben), Elana Gayton (Ryan Brock), and Anthony Baldwin. Great Grandchildren, Whitney Jones, Michael Baldwin, Donaven Gayton, Alivia Gayton and Elijah Norsworthy. She is also survived by Sisters Inez Harris, Nancy Wood (Eddie), sister-in-law Elaine Jones, and Brother Roy Jones, along with numerous nieces and nephews. We love you Mama, and will miss you dearly.
